We have 3 raised garden boxes which are wheelchair accessible and 4 large planters which are also accessible. We also have a worm farm which is raised and on a movable base. We just got a tall butterfly pavilion which we will use in the spring. The students at our school all have physical impairments. We have a preschool class that works on the garden 1-2 times a week. Children of all ages who come for physical therapy also participate in garden activities.

We are interested in being E-Mail Pals and would like to exchange: Ideas of what has worked well in other schools.
How our project is helping kids grow: Many of our students have not had access to a garden before. They have a wonderful time digging in the dirt and watering. Watching seeds sprout and grow into plants was amazing for them! Today they were so proud when we made salsa from our tomatoes. The worm farm is a great opportunity to discuss recycling and how everything is connected. We feed a few of the worms to our toads every other day.
