Our campus was a barren wasteland complete with a dilapidated rose garden and 2 neglected garden sites. Over the past 2 years we have metamorphosed into a flourishing garden habitat, now home to a variety of birds and insects which continually entertain and engage our student body. We have received grants that enabled our campus to add benches, a central fountain, a variety of plant material and create 2 garden sites that are used as outdoor classrooms for our students which range in age from kindergarten to the 6th grade. Many students whom have never had the opportunity to "dig" are now teaching others how to plant, and enjoy the gardens at Glenmeade.

We are interested in being E-Mail Pals and would like to exchange: Lesson plans, fundraising ideas and positive experiences!
How our project is helping kids grow: Many of our students are excited about the gardens at Glenmeade and have encouraged their families to enhance their own homes. We hope to encourage our students to take the skills they obtain from their gardening experiences to enrich their lives and that of those around them. We have found that enriched students make positive choices both in and out of the classroom.
