Our garden project is called Agape Youth Gardens. We started since the year 2007 in a very small scale, but since the recession starting 2008, we have grown with broad-based agenda in mind. It has grown to be a learning service program for at-risk kids. We operate inside diverse cultural neighborhood, and we are promoting the young people's appreciation for good nutrition, cooperation, volunteerism, altruism, exercise and cultural awareness. We are also advocating that plant-based education be used as a bottom up solution for crime prevention.
Number of Kids Involved: 15Square Feet of Gardens: 4000
Grades Involved:
We are interested in being E-Mail Pals and would like to exchange: We will like to exchange seeds ,ideas and excursional visits/networking. In this intraexchange we will be able to polish each others intellectual and artistic state with our habitat experiences.
How our project is helping kids grow: Our Garden project certainly is touching the life's of the kids in the neighborhood, because we find that they need an outside learning program just like the have the inside the classroom academic based studies. We are still getting calls as to when the Gardening will commence. Therefore we are thinking of expanding our gardening program to Inside/aqua/lab Gardening during Winter months. We will be needing Grants to able us do this.
