Every school should have a garden. Why? Because youth gardening is an unparalleled tool for hands-on learning and healthier kids! School gardens can help to improve test scores and expose children to important issues such as nutrition, environmental awareness, and exercise. Children eat what they grow, learn to appreciate the natural world, increase physical activity, develop a love of learning, and a host of other character building attributes in the garden.

Every community should have a garden. Why? Because communities that garden together experience less crime, have access to safe fresh food, build neighborhood pride, and create a common ground for community members to interact. When children are involved, community gardening becomes an inter-generational outdoor activity that helps to build self-esteem, improves nutritional attitudes, and creates a stronger connection to nature while promoting activity and exercise.
