Mantis will sponsor 10 schools in the Greater Philadelphia area through the National Gardening Association's Adopt a School Garden program in 2009. In addition to receiving technical assistance, and horticultural and garden education consultation from the ASG program, winners will also receive a $600 ASG Garden Kit (see table below) and a Mantis Tiller/Cultivator or Mantis ComposT-Twin Composter to help lay the foundation for the garden program.
Who is eligible to apply: Elementary, middle, and high schools with outdoor garden programs located in the Greater Philadelphia area including Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to programs focusing on nutrition and sustainability. Both established and start-up garden programs are encouraged to apply.
The garden program must be implemented by July 31, 2009. Recipients must submit a final report by August 15, 2009 summarizing program accomplishments and impacts.
What the award includes: Recipients will receive a $600 ASG Garden Kit (list of products included below) and a Mantis Tiller/Cultivator or Mantis ComposT-Twin Composter to help lay the foundation for the garden program.
Recipients will choose between two ASG kits depending on the size and location of their garden. The kits include:
Submission process: Applications are due by February 9, 2009.
Award Fulfillment: We will notify you about the status of your application by March 2, 2009.
No purchase necessary. Purchase of a product does not improve your chances of receiving an award.
