Greening Canada's School Grounds

Have you envisioned transforming your school grounds, or just a small area, into an outdoor classroom by planting trees, creating a wildlife habitat, or growing a butterfly garden? Greening Canada's School Grounds is a site that can help you plant and design your project, and persuade administrators and funders of its value.

Treetures

Treetures are characters that help children learn about the importance of trees. They are teaching tools that use fantasy to explain scientific facts. The Treetures Environmental Education Program promotes activities held throughout the country that combine environmental education with entertainment for children. The Web site is inviting for children and adults, and offers books and other teaching materials for educators and parents.

Trees for Life: People Empowering People

Trees for Life is a nonprofit organization that empowers people by demonstrating that in helping each other, we can unleash extraordinary power. They do this by helping people plant trees in developing countries. Each tree protects the environment and provides a low-cost, self-renewing source of food for a large number of people. The Website has a special section for teachers.

The National Arbor Day Foundation

The mission of the National Arbor Day Foundation is to help people plant and care for trees. Visit their Website or contact the organization for information on Arbor Day programs, free trees, and other educational initiatives.
