Web Sites for Growing Scientists

  • Online Schoolyard & Classroom Investigations - Scads of excellent K-12 standards- based investigations — from a schoolyard flower experiment to the chromatography of local vegetation — are featured on this district Web site.

  • Birch Lane GeoGarden - Learn about this outdoor classroom and the inquiry projects it has inspired: investigations of soil fertility, weather experiments, nutrition activities, and even a study of crow behavior!

  • The Science Spot/The Nature Center - A school-designed nature center site featuring K-12 inquiry-oriented lessons: a pond water survey, insect study, and more.

  • Journey North: Tulips - Through this exemplary international plant study project student scientists plant tulips each fall. Classes then share observations with others via the Internet and follow the progression of spring northward.
