Amanda Slater – Director of Programs and Operations
Amanda is a KidsGardening veteran, beginning her career in 2009 as administrative assistant at the National Gardening Association. Prior to joining the organization, she graduated from the University of New Hampshire as a student-athlete with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Business Administration. Gardening has always been a way of life for her family and it is a dream come true to give that opportunity to every child across the nation.
Amanda is involved in youth garden programming both locally and nationally, working to establish youth and community gardens throughout the country, and conducting workshops and activities for both educators and young gardeners. A strong supporter of military families, she volunteers for the Vermont Army National Guard Family Readiness Group as the Youth Coordinator. She raised $500 in her Go2GrowRunner campaign to establish the Green Mountain Little Aviator’s Family Garden for young military children, where the garden serves as a link to help bringing Vermont military families together and provide them with a safe-haven during deployment cycles.
Amanda resides in the suburbs of Burlington, VT with her husband and two-year old son. They enjoy spending time together by exploring all of the wonders of Vermont, and gardening is at the top of the list!
